Clearly not content with just crocheting, I began learning to dye yarn at the start of 2018.
About a year ago I stumbled across the fantastic youtube channel ChemKnits Tutorials, where the host Rebecca (great name btw!) experiments with dyeing yarns with food colouring and kool-aid in all sorts of amazing ways. Being relatively new to all things yarny and fibrous, I had no idea dyeing your own was so easy. However, it’s totally right up my street. Tinkering with colours has been a thing of mine forever. From painting, fine-art printmaking and the obligatory early teen attempts at tie-dyeing nearly every dyeable object of clothing.
Fast forward to now, I have a starter kit of acid dyes, a few packets of kool-aid, a wonderful stockpot, and a plastic tub full to the brim with various measuring devices and other dyeing related tools.
I’ve inserted a few photos, but that really is just the tip of the yarny iceberg.
